Look at Korra. She’s so overwhelmed with the responsibility of keeping Republic City safe, and fulfilling the enormous shoes Aang left behind. She’s overwrought because she can’t airbend, and she hasn’t entered the Avatar State yet. She really feels alone in this. I think Korra really values control, and not having the control over the situation makes her act rashly—like going after Tarrlok. I think Korra believes that part of being the Avatar is always having a handle on the situation, and she doesn’t; she’s just a teenager. But then she looks at Aang, who defeated the Fire Lord at a younger age, and she can’t help but make comparisons and feel inadequate about her progress.
I just feel so bad for her.
